Alanna Murphy,
Professional Organizer
I am a bilingual professional organizer and a Silver Leaf member of the Professional Organizers in Canada since 2003, with a background in care and support through my work in home care with the CLSC. Over the years, I have worked closely with adults who experience challenges maintaining organization due to ADHD, compulsive hoarding, anxiety, grief, or difficulties with time management.
At Theraspace, professional organizing is not just about creating order—it’s about supporting mental health in a practical, compassionate way. Disorganization is often linked to deeper emotional or cognitive challenges, and my role is to help translate therapeutic goals into everyday systems that are realistic and sustainable.
My Approach & Expertise
I specialize in supporting individuals who feel chronically disorganized, offering tailored solutions that meet each person where they are. Whether it’s organizing a home, downsizing, creating functional spaces, or improving time and paper management, the work is always collaborative, respectful, and paced to the client’s readiness. I frequently work alongside psychologists and psychiatrists to ensure that both the emotional and practical aspects of change are supported.
A Collaborative, Integrative Approach
What sets this service apart is the integration with mental health care. By working alongside your therapist or care team, we bridge the gap between insight and action—helping you not only understand your challenges, but also create practical systems that support lasting change in your daily life.
How This Supports Mental Health
-
ADHD:
Organization challenges are often tied to executive functioning difficulties rather than lack of effort. I help create simple, structured systems—such as visual cues, routines, and accessible storage—that reduce overwhelm and support focus and follow-through. -
Compulsive Hoarding:
Decluttering can feel emotionally intense and overwhelming. I provide non-judgmental, step-by-step support, working in tandem with therapy to help clients gradually sort, make decisions, and create safer, more functional living spaces. -
Grief & Life Transitions:
Letting go of belongings can be especially difficult when they carry emotional meaning. I offer a compassionate approach that honors attachment while gently supporting clients in creating space for healing and change.
What You Can Expect
-
Decluttering & Space Organization
We will work together to identify what items best support your current life and needs. Using a thoughtful process (keep, donate, or sell), we will categorize belongings and create functional systems that make your space easier to navigate and more calming. My approach is compassionate and individualized—I focus on understanding the meaning behind items rather than applying rigid rules.
-
Time Management Support
If you find it difficult to stay on top of appointments, work, or daily responsibilities, we will develop personalized strategies such as visual reminders, alarms, and structured routines to help you stay organized and meet deadlines more consistently.
-
Paper Flow & Systems
For those overwhelmed by paperwork, we will create simple “in and out” systems and, if needed, a customized filing structure. This can make tasks like managing bills, preparing for appointments, and organizing documents much more manageable.
Taking the first step toward better peace of mind can feel significant. I look forward to providing a supportive, respectful environment where we can work together toward meaningful and lasting change.
